LION Series - Mechanical Equipment Safety Monitoring

Industry Trends & Safety Monitoring Demands

With the development of industries such as mining, construction, engineering, and heavy equipment operations, businesses are placing higher demands on the operational safety, equipment status monitoring, driver behavior management, and data collection of mechanical equipment.

Excavators, loaders, mining vehicles, and heavy-duty transport equipment often operate in mines, construction sites, and other complex working environments, where challenges such as blind spots, collision risks, driver fatigue or distraction, and limited visibility into real-time equipment status are common.

In response to these complex safety management needs, traditional manual inspections and single-purpose monitoring methods can no longer comprehensively cover equipment operation, the surrounding environment, and driver status.

Therefore, LION Series – Mechanical Equipment Safety Monitoring Solution integrates GPS/GNSS positioning, CAN data collection, environmental sensing, video monitoring, and driver status monitoring technologies to collect and transmit multidimensional data on equipment location, operating status, surrounding environment, and driver status, providing essential data support for mechanical equipment safety monitoring and digital management.

Topology

1. TE604E – CAN Bus GPS DTU

TE604E serves as a GPS/GNSS positioning and data transmission terminal. When used with a CAN Bus Data Logger, it enables mechanical equipment location tracking and operational data collection. It also supports ACC status detection, collision detection, and driving behavior monitoring, including harsh acceleration, harsh cornering, harsh braking, and speeding.

In addition, external sensors can be selected according to different types of mechanical equipment and operating scenarios to further extend safety monitoring capabilities. By connecting accessories such as iButton, ID Scanner, ultrasonic fuel level sensors, angle sensors, alcohol detection sensors, and heart rate monitoring devices, supporting operator identification, fuel level monitoring, rotation or angle status detection, and driver status monitoring.

2. TC200 – CAN Bus Data Logger

The CAN Bus Data Logger collects and decodes CAN data from vehicles or mechanical equipment and transmits the relevant data to the GPS terminal.

Depending on the available CAN data and communication protocols of the equipment, operational information such as engine status, fuel consumption, engine RPM, mileage, and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can be obtained, providing essential data support for mechanical equipment operation monitoring and data management.

3. Radar Detection System

The Radar Detection System detects the environment surrounding mechanical equipment and identifies the distance to nearby obstacles. Depending on the application, it can provide work-zone safety alerts, hazard-zone warnings, and collision prevention assistance.

This function is particularly suitable for large machinery such as mining vehicles, construction equipment, loaders, excavators, and heavy-duty transport equipment, helping reduce collision risks in complex operating environments.

4. 360° Surround View Camera

The 360° Surround View Camera provides comprehensive visual coverage around mechanical equipment, helping reduce blind spots during operation. By providing a real-time view of the surrounding environment, it assists operators in carrying out safer equipment operation.

5. Driver Monitoring System (DMS)

The Driver Monitoring System (DMS) monitors driver status and behavior in real time. It can detect conditions such as driver fatigue, distraction, smoking, and mobile phone use, helping businesses strengthen driver safety management and promote standardized operating practices.

The LION Solution integrates GPS/GNSS positioning + CAN data collection + radar detection + 360° surround view monitoring + DMS + various safety sensors to provide multidimensional data collection and safety monitoring covering equipment location, equipment operating status, the surrounding environment, and driver status.

The solution is suitable for mining vehicles, construction machinery, loaders, excavators, and heavy-duty transport equipment. It can be integrated with customers’ existing third-party management platforms or data management systems, providing a hardware foundation for mechanical equipment safety management, operational monitoring, and data-driven management.
